AO Spring Retreat Preview, 2008
by Joanna Safford
“Faith, Fellowship, and…Freshmen!”
Alpha Omega is a campus ministry for a young generation passionate about living like Christ. We exist to fellowship in Christ together, serve others through selfless love, and glorify God no matter what activity we participate in, conversation we have, or song we raise to the Lord. Every year we take time to step away from our weekly routines and spending an enriching weekend at spring retreat—this year will be no different!
As we welcome the incoming Freshman class, we expect to get involved in many activities (with some chill time on the side). The Aurora Leadership Center is the perfect location for our quick getaway. Here are just some of your options: indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, basketball, softball, ping pong, flag football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, sun bathing, card games, and, of course, energized large group activities.
Our guest speaker will be Fred Mikat from Countryside Bible Church in Hampton, NE. You can anticipate solid teaching from a pastor who truly knows the Word of God. The AO Praise Band will provide fantastic worship music to focus our minds as we lift our voices to the Lord. Additionally, there will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the weather.
What should each of us expect? For Freshman, this will likely be your first exposure to AO; be sure to take advantage to this event to jump start your move toward training in righteousness after High School. Current AO participants should come to stimulate one another to love and good deeds as we assemble together to observe, interpret, and apply the Bible.
We’ll meet at Indian Hills Community Church on Friday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m. to carpool out to Aurora. We’ll return around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 20th. Don’t forget to bring the following: the Bible, a pen, some food to share, a sleeping bag & pillow, toiletries, clothes, money for registration, and a desire in your heart to grow in the Lord.
Sign up before it’s too late! Call the church office as soon as possible to
confirm your spot (this helps those who are planning this event for YOU). You can also confirm by contacting Matt McGrew (
mmcgrew@ihcc.org) or send a
Facebook message to any of the Administrators of the Alpha Omega Group.
